Commenting on today’s labour market statistics, Grahame Smith, General Secretary of the STUC said:
“These latest figures show a small drop in employment and unemployment in Scotland, alongside a concerning increase in economic inactivity.
“A decade after the crash, wages have still not recovered. On average workers in the UK are taking home £10 a week less today than in 2008.
“The forthcoming Scottish Government Budget must invest in public services, restoring pay for our public sector workers, and promoting inclusive, wage-led growth.”
